The City of New Bedford is kicking off a new health insurance education program for kids and their parents, thanks to a grant from the National League of Cities.

The program was explained during a program Monday at Carney Acadamy.

Health Director Brenda Weis tells WBSM News, they started a dental program at Carney and learned that a large percentage of students did not have insurance.

Besides students bringing home notices to their parents about the importance of health insurance, ads will also be posted inside SERTA busses.

If you want to learn more about the program check out their website at healthaccesskids@gmail.com.
