City Man Charged With County Street Breaks

New Bedford Police have charged a city man with two recent break-ins on County Street.

Lt. Amos Mello says the breaks happened at the County General convenience store at 518 County Street on November 24th and the 28th.

Arrested on Thursday was 45 year old Leon Baveas of New Bedford. He's charged with two counts of b-and-e in the night-time, malicious destruction of property, and larceny from a building.

Mello says Police carried out a search warrant at the suspect's North Street apartment, and recovered clothing Baveas was seen wearing on the days of the break-in's.
