A request to post "No Trespassing" and "No Loitering" signs at the Serenity Gardens, formerly the Morse Twist Drill site, will be sent to Mayor Jon Mitchell and the Chief of Police.

The motion passed on a 9-2 vote at Thursday night's City Council meeting.

Councilor Brian Gomes wants the signs posted to give Police Officers a tool to reduce drug dealing and illegal drinking in the area...

Gomes cited the success of simailir signs posted around Brooklawn Park that's reduced criminal activity there.

Ward Four Councilor Dana Rebeiro however opposes the signs, and said residents living around the park don't want them either.

She believes it's unfair to punish neighborhood residents for the acts of a few criminals.
