For the 49th year, the Jewish Federation of New Bedford and Coastline Elderly teamed up to serve Christmas dinner to the elderly and lonely.

Some 125 people were served a complete turkey dinner with all the fixins at the Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church while an additional 175 meals were delivered to the elderly who couldn't leave their homes.

The meals are prepared by the Bristol County Sheriff's Department. and there was enough food, for people to take some  home in doggie bags. Ellen Hull, who helps organize the meals says that the meals serve two purposes, giving those who are alone a place to celebrate and giving the elderly and home bound a sense of community.
