A special prosecutor has dropped charges against Michelle Hodgson, the daughter of Sheriff Thomas Hodgson, because of insufficient evidence.

According to the Clerk's Office at New Bedford District Court, the case was "nol processed" Thursday morning.

Michelle Hodgson was charged with witness intimidation following a shooting incident August 2nd outside Jalice Cafe. According to police, Hodgson told the officer she was Tom Hodgson's daughter, and "would have his job" when she was arrested.

Prosecutor William Connolly told the Standard Times, there was insufficient evidence to prove the witness intimidation charge. Connolly said he decided against filing a lesser charge because Michelle Hodgson was cooperative with police after the arrest, and because she had no criminal record.
