Former Mayor Kalisz Portrait Unveiled

Former New Bedford Mayor Fred Kalisz is honored over the weekend. A portrait of Mayor Kalisz, who served as Mayor for eight years from 1998 to 2006, was unveiled over the weekend during ceremonies at the downtown public library. Some 150 people gathered for the event, to catch a glimpse of the portrait that was painted by Deborah Macy. Mayor Kalisz said he was humbled by the honor.

New Bedford City Council Shocked About Layoffs [AUDIO]

New Bedford City Councilors are reacting to the layoffs at a local job training center. New Directions, a subsidiary of the region's Workforce Investment Board, let go about one-third of its staff Thursday because of funding cuts.
