A real effort is being made by both sides to reach agreement on a proposed waterfront casino for New Bedford.

That from Andy Pavin, a spokesperson for developer KG Urban Enterprises. He says KG Urban and the City of New Bedford are still talking, with a deadline for submitting an application to the state Gaming Commission, less than a week away.

The deal looked dead last week after Mayor Jon Mitchell suggested changes to KG Urban's plans for land around the Cannon Street Power Station.  KG Urban says the Mayor wanted to greatly alter the project, and they could not go along.

Both sides agreed over the weekend to meet and try to put together a host city agreement. Pavin declined to say whether progress had been made.
