A 28-year-old New Bedford man has been found guilty of fatally stabbing of another man during the early morning hours of St. Patrick's Day, 2012.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office said a jury convicted Jose Carrion of second degree murder Friday afternoon after deliberating for three days.

Carrion was accused of killing 33-year-old Melvin Pina after a late-night encounter at an underground dance club in a New Bedford Warehouse. Prosecutors had said Carrion stabbed Pina five times after Pina spilled a drink on him.

Pina's body was found hours later in the backyard of a nearby house where police said he apparently collapsed.

Carrion is scheduled to be sentenced on Monday.
