Loved ones tried to stay lighthearted at Friday's vigil for two people who died in a tragic car crash on Memorial Day.

People from the crowd told upbeat stories of Meghan Sergant and Brooklyn Roderigues as family and friends fought through tears to laugh at the memories.

Jeana Sergant, Meghan's mother, had a message for her daughter's friends going off to college to always take the path least traveled, and to enjoy their time for Meghan.

"In their next few years just take a little piece of her and bring it with you, and then, in my heart she'll have done some of the things that we're losing," she said.

Jackie House, one of Brooklyn's friends, remembered the 21 year-old as a comical person who was never afraid of what people thought.

The Hollywood Scoop, Roderigues' former workplace and the location for Friday's vigil, is holding a fundraiser on Sunday, June 7 from 12 pm to 6 pm. All proceeds will go to the families to assist with funeral costs.
