The state fire marshal's office says a fire that destroyed a Cape Cod church was intentionally set.

The Cape Cod Times reports firefighters responding to an alarm at about 3 a.m. Friday found the Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church in Brewster engulfed in flames. Firefighters from Wellfleet and Yarmouth helped battle the three-alarm blaze. No one was hurt.

A spokeswoman for the fire marshal said there's nothing to indicate the fire is connected with a series of arsons investigated in eastern Massachusetts.

The church, incorporated in 1978, is affiliated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Its members travel internationally to set up churches and help the needy. It has about 320 members.

Myron Heckman, pastor since 1978, said the building was renovated in 1997. He said it ``holds a lot of memories'' but is just a building. (Associated Press)
