Candlelight Vigil Marks World Aids Day In New Bedford

New Bedford marked World Aids Day with a candlelight vigil last night outside City Hall. Area residents living with AIDS or H-I-V joined elected officials to support continued research, treatment and education.

Mayor Jon Mitchell read a proclamation supporting continued efforts to educate the public about AIDS and H-I-V. A special proclamation was also presented to the family of the late Gerald Ribeiro, the founder of Treatment on Demand and a staunch advocate for aids education.
