Candidates For Governor Rake In Cash
Candidates for Massachusetts governor are stockpiling cash as they prepare for this year's campaign.
Democrat Steve Grossman ended 2014 with more than $984,000 in his account, having raised about $212,000 in December.
Republican Charlie Baker raised nearly $426,000 in December, ending the year with $547,000.
Democrat Martha Coakley also finished strong, pulling in more than $280,000 in December, bring her total to more than $455,000.
Other Democratic candidates ended the year with less, including Newton pediatrician Don Berwick ($182,000), former federal Homeland Security official Juliette Kayyem ($142,000) and former Wellesley Selectman Joseph Avellone ($133,000).
A second Republican _ Shrewsbury business owner Mark Fisher _ ended the year with $39,000.
Two independent candidates _Evan Falchuk and Jeffrey McCormick _ are also running. Falchuk ended the year with $42,000 while McCormick had $45,000. (Associated Press)
