A cancer survivor from Marion says strong family support and excellent, upbeat doctors helped her beat the disease.

Nicole Podkowa was diagnosed with breast cancer, two years ago this month.

She was shocked to hear the diagnosis, but her doctors kept giving her confidence.

Podkowa says her surgery was done in Boston but the treatment she received at Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care was "tremendous."

Podkowa was one of the keynote speakers Sunday at Buttonwood Park, where 400 cancer survivors, patients, family members, doctors and staffers gathered to celebrate "A Day of Life."
