There will be some new exhibits on display at the Buttonwood Park Zoo this week.

Zoo officials say the five new exhibits will open on Thursday at their Admissions Building and Wildlife Education Center.

The exhibits were developed, in part, by recycling some aquarium tanks and life support system equipment from the now closed Ocean Explorium and will include South American poison dart frogs, an Amazon River flooded forest exhibit loaded with freshwater Amazon fish and plants, and the Coral Farm that used to be at the Explorium.

In the summer of next year the zoo is also planning to open a completely renovated Aquatic Environment Center that will focus on the conservation of marine environments around the world.

Science on the Sphere will open at the Wildlife Education Center later this year thanks to a partnership with the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and will feature presentations related to the Zoo's animals and programs.
