One of New Bedford's most famous structures is up for sale.

The Butler Flats lighthouse, sitting in the South End of the harbor, is going on the auction block next month.

The General Services Administration is handling the auctions of a number of federally-owned lighthouses that are in great need of structural repair, including Butler Flats.

The 115-year-old lighthouse, designed by Francis Hopkinson Smith sports four levels, including two watch decks, a basement, and three floors of living space.

The Butler Flats light is on the National Register of Historic Places, and could be yours for a starting bid of $25,000.
