With the Custom House Square parking lot closing for good Friday, reaction is mixed on the installation of an urban park in it's stead.

Jack Wetherby, owner of Freestone's City Grill just across the street, thinks of it as a beautification project.

One worker at a nearby bar said she thinks the park will attract a number of vagrants, a problem she says already exists in that area.

Rosa Figueirido owns the Buzi Salon on Acushnet Avenue across from the lot, and says the mayor's office should have hammered out some sort of compromise with surrounding businesses.

City crews are fencing off the parking lot Friday morning, in preparation for landscaping of the park.
