Brock Holt, a journeyman infielder in the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league system who has found a home as a super utility player with the Boston Red Sox, has been named as a reserve to the 2015 American League Alll Star team.

Holt was named to the team Monday by Manager Ned Yost of the Kansas City Royals. He is a first-time All Star. Holt told RedSox.com, "I just tried to go out and play hard every night and try to help give my team and our team a chance to win. I didn't really think about the All-Star team or being selected to the All-Star Game or anything like that. I'm very honored and humbled by the selection."

Holt is hitting .295 with 21 extra base hits, and has played every position for the Red Sox this year, except pitcher and catcher.  He also hit for the cycle last month in a game at Fenway Park.
