New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady finished tied for second place with Arizona Cardinals' quarterback Carson Palmer in the NFL's MVP voting this year, as Carolina's Cam Newton took home the honors at the league's "NFL Honors" award ceremony Saturday.

While Brady had a stellar season, completing 64.4 percent of his passes for 4,770 yards and 36 scores, his season was out-shined by Newton's ability to lead his team to a 15-1 regular season record and Super Bowl appearance.

Newton had an impressive season, himself, passing for 35 scores while rushing for another 10. He did complete 4.6 percent less of his passes than Brady, however, and also threw for 933 fewer yards.

Palmer had the highest quarterback passer rating of the three at 104.6, edging out Brady's 102.2 rating and Newton's 99.4 mark. Palmer also had a better completion percentage (63.7) and more passing yards (4,671)  than Newton, while throwing for the same amount of touchdowns and more more pick.

While he led all three with the highest completion percentage and most passing yards, Brady also led the pack with the fewest number of interceptions. Brady threw seven regular season picks, while Newton and Palmer finished with 10 and 11 respectively.

All in all, each quarterback had an impressive season. If either Brady or Palmer were still standing the vote could have easily swung their way, but Newton deserves the honor as he really led the way for a surprising Panthers team all season long.
