Membership in the Boy Scouts of America is down more than seven percent following a new policy allowing openly gay youth to join.

Nearly two-point-four million youth participated in the program during the 2014 calendar year.  That's down from two-point-six million the year before.

Boy Scout officials are not sure if the new gay membership policy affected membership.

The group hopes new technology programs and outdoor activities will increase membership.  (Metro Networks Inc.)
