A Dartmouth farm is out nearly 50 heads of cattle after police say thieves made off with the cows late Saturday night.

Police say the cattle thieves made their strike at the farm at 452 Old Fall River Road between 10pm and midnight Saturday, leaving with approximately $50,000 in cattle.

Police are releasing few details due to the nature of the ongoing investigation. The farm is located behind Gosselin and Son Mason-Landscape.

One local says tenants rent out portions of the farm from the owner, Mary Robinson, but the cows do not belong to her.
