A Bourne man has turned himself in after escaping from police custody Friday.

Bourne Police say that officers conducted a motor vehicle stop near Shore Rd. around 5:30 p.m.

Officers then determined that one of the passengers in the vehicle, identified as 24-year-old Branden Coggeshall, had three non-violent, misdemeanor warrants for his arrest.

He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Bourne Police Department for booking.

Upon arrival at the station, the arresting officer secured his firearm as they prepared to remove Coggeshall from the vehicle.

Coggeshall then used this opportunity to remove his handcuffs, slide into the front seat of the cruiser, and exit the car through the driver's side door.

He then got away from pursuing officers by hopping over a fence and running until he was out of sight.

Several area agencies, including a Plymouth County K9 unit, assisted in the search for Coggeshall but were unsuccessful.

Coggeshall later turned himself into police shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday.

He will be held until his arraignment, which is scheduled for Monday morning at Falmouth District Court where he will also face a charge of Escape from Police and Destruction of Property Greater than $250.
