Boston Mayor Tom Menino is keeping up the age-old tradition of betting a rival mayor on the eve of an important football game.

Menino agreed yesterday to bet Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake some fresh local seafood and other Boston food items if the Patriots lose to the Ravens Sunday.  If Baltimore loses, Rawlings-Blake will ship Menino crab cakes, fruit salad, cookies and stuffed cabbage.

Menino was taped making the bet by New England Cable News, and the mayor praised such Patriot players as "Wilcott" and "Gonk."  Menino apparently meant Vince "Wilfork," whose jersey he was wearing at the time, and Rob Gronkowski, who is popularly known as "Gronk."
