Dartmouth's search for a new superintendent is finally over.

Last night, the school committee unanimously voted Bonny Gifford 5-0 to be the district's next leader.

Gifford, a longtime Westport resident, was the acting superintendent for Falmouth Public Schools. School committee Chairperson, John Nunes, said the choice wasn't easy, but it was the right one.

While Gifford wasn't at the meeting last night, Nunes called her to deliver the news.

Board Vice Chairperson, Chris Oliver visited Falmouth Public Schools and interviewed teachers, principles, and other community members about Gifford. Oliver says her hands-on approach helped maker her the right choice for Dartmouth.

Gifford is expected to take around three weeks to negotiate a contract, and will likely start as superintendent on July 1.
