GOP House Speaker John Boehner is warning President Obama to think twice before trying to reform the nation's immigration system through executive actions. He said it would "poison the well."

The President has vowed to do what he can to reform immigration because of congressional inaction. In a Capitol briefing, Boehner agreed that it is time to deal with immigration reform, calling it a "political football."

A bipartisan Senate immigration bill has been stuck in the House for more than a year. Republicans regained control of the Senate in this week's midterm elections and added seats to their majority in the House.

Boehner said the new GOP majority will aim to reset the nation's economic foundation. He argued that lawmakers and the White House need to start rebuilding trust among voters, who are in a sour mood.

Meantime, Boehner said Republicans will continue efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act. He argued that the healthcare law is hurting the economy and is overwhelmingly opposed by voters.

Boehner said Republicans will attempt to approve the controversial Keystone oil pipeline early next year. He also wants to address the hefty national debt.  (Metro Networks Inc.)
