The 12 day search for Dana Dourdeville has been called off after a body was found washed ashore earlier today in Falmouth, Ma.

A source close to the Dourdeville family,Old Rochester Athletic Director Bill Tilden, confirms the body has been identified as 21-year-old Dana Dourdeville of Marion.

Dourdeville's body was found at Penzance Point in Falmouth, 8 miles southeast of West Island Town Beach where he went missing on New Year's Eve.

This statement was posted on the "Search for Dana" Facebook page just before 4pm Sunday:

"Thank you the searching. We ask that you all stop searching and be safe. With very sad news that I do not want to tell everyone this way but Dana has been found and has passed. Please keep him and the family in your prayers and we promise to update everyone soon. You have all been amazing and this recovery would not have been possible without your help and prayers.

Strength and Love,
Bill T."

Dourdeville was reported missing by his family after he failed to return home after going duck hunting off of West Island. His vehicle was found in the Town Beach parking lot, and his kayak was soon recovered from the waters about three miles east of West Island.

Family, friends, officials, and strangers have spent nearly the past two weeks searching area beaches for any sign of Dourdeville.

We'll have more information as it becomes available.
