Vice President Joe Biden will not seek the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination.

Speaking in the Rose Garden, Biden said he is still grieving the passing of his son Beau.

Beau Biden died in May after a long struggle against brain cancer. Biden said the window for deciding to make a presidential run has closed.

President Obama and Biden's wife Jill stood by the Vice President as he made the announcement. B

iden said much has been accomplished in the Obama administration and argued that there is still a lot of work to do.

He said he will continue fighting to improve the plight of the middle class and "level the playing field for the American people."
