After 47 years in business a well known Taunton restaurant has closed its doors.

Benjamin's Restaurant posted a notice on their website saying the restaurant ceased operations on Sunday.

Owner Diane Benjamin said a plan to transition to new restaurant operators was taking longer than expected and, on the advice of business associates and their accountants, they decided to close the restaurant, at least temporarily.

Benjamin also said that the passing of her husband George, the winter of 2015, the economic recession, and the recent family legal struggles have all negatively impacted the business.

She says they are continuing to work with MG Commercial of Providence to bring in operators who will be able to run the restaurant.
