The historic bell at Rogers School in Fairhaven will be coming down on Saturday, July 30.  The bell was cast by William Blake & Co. in 1885 and weighs 980 pounds.  It is being removed for safety reasons and the public is invited to come see it removed.

According to South Coast Today.com, the bell is being removed because the cradle that holds the bell is collapsing and may eventually break.

Many generations of Fairhaven children attended Rogers School and have fond memories of the school.

The bell and cradle will be taken down starting at 10am on Saturday and crane will take the bell down.
