Bristol Community College is taking the lead, offering young people opportunities for advancement in the burgeoning offshore wind industry.

BCC is offering courses for offshore wind construction and maintenance of the turbines to be assembled in the city's South Terminal.

30-year-old Brian Walsh of New Bedford has construction experience, but does not have the luxury of a steady job. Attending an informational session at BCC Wednesday, Walsh tells WBSM News a job in the wind industry can lead to bigger and better things.

Through the two free programs, students can earn a GED and college credits, while learning trades associated with the wind industry.
