Bristol Community College is launching a new pilot program aimed at giving so-called "incumbent workers" a leg up in their education.

The program is a collaboration with Higher Education Partners, and will fund scholarships worth up to 50% of the costs for up to two classes for the Early Childhood or Human Services programs.

HEP President Gerry Kavanaugh says those "incumbent workers" already serving in their fields realize the importance of such a program.

Students must be registered for classes by December 31 to qualify for the program. The college is offering information sessions on how to become eligible:

Thursday, December 6 and Wednesday December 12, 4:30-6:30pm at 188 Union St., New Bedford.

For more information, call the New Bedford Campus at 508-678-2811, ext. 4000.
