The 2015 recepient of the Southeastern Massachusetts Veteran of The Year Award is Attorney Peter Paull Jr. of New Bedford.

The award is presented each year by the Veterans Transition House in New Bedford.

Attorney Paull had a 21 year career in the United States Navy and Naval Reserves. When he retired from the service in 1989, he found another way to serve his country.

Since the mid 90's Paull has served as a federal fiduciary or guardian for 30 disabled veterans. Paull has made sure the veterans were properly cared for and managed their finances so they could receive the care and benefits they deserve.

"It's not a 9-to-5 job, you might get that call at 10 o"clock at night that they have to go to the hospital or emergency room and because most of them are legally or partially mentally challenged, they need someone there by their side," said Paull.

Attorney Paull personally met with all the veterans he worked for, and did much of the work without compensation.

Paull said he was honored to be nominated for the Veterans of The Year Award, particularly given the background of the recepients who were recognized before him. The award will be presented in November.
