New Bedford Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery at a convenience store that had been robbed earlier this week.

Police say early Wednesday afternoon, a man walked into the 7-Eleven on Acushnet Avenue in the North End, and ordered the clerk to give him all the money in the register. The clerk saw the man reach for his waistband, and instead of complying, ran into the store's backroom and locked himself in with two other employees. The suspect fled the scene without any cash.

He's described as a white male in his early to mid 30s. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, dark shorts, and a Red Sox baseball cap. He has a tattoo on the calf of his right leg.

Police are reviewing surveillance footage in search of more information.

Late Monday night, the store was robbed at knifepoint, with the suspect getting away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police are investigating both crimes.
