New Bedford Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery Wednesday morning.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says that at approximately 10:15 a.m. an employee was standing outside God’s Will Thrift Store at 1857 Acushnet Ave when a man approached him wanting to sell a television.

The employee told the man he wasn't interested, at which point the man put his hand in his jacket pocket and demanded money, telling the employee he would shoot him.

Vicente says no weapon was shown.

The suspect followed the employee as he retreated into the store, with the suspect still demanding money.

The employee began calling 9-1-1 and the suspect grabbed the television and fled without taking anything.

The suspect is described as a clean shaven white man in in his 30’s, approximately 6 ft. tall with short blonde hair.

He was was wearing a blue jacket and blue jeans and was seen getting into a light blue four door vehicle that was parked near Shaw St.

That vehicle was last seen going north on Acushnet Ave.
