Police say a New Bedford man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing earlier this month at a local sports bar.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says that New Bedford detectives, assisted by a Trooper from the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, arrested 29-year-old Robert Geliga at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday at 180 Richmond St. apt 3.

Geliga is facing charges of Armed Assault and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon in connection with the February 17 stabbing of a 20-year-old man at Dublin’s Sports Bar & Grille at 1686 Acushnet Ave.

Vicente says the arrest was made following a weeklong investigation.

Geliga was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning in New Bedford District Court.

Vicente says the unidentified victim is at home recovering following his release from Rhode Island Hospital on Tuesday.
