NEW BEDFORD — Follow-up work by New Bedford Police detectives led to the arrest of a New Bedford man in connection with firing shots at and causing damage to a vehicle early Wednesday.

Eusebio Famania, 26, of Sycamore Street, was charged with causing malicious damage to a motor vehicle, attempting to burn a motor vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm without a license and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.

Police were called to the 200-block of Nash Road for a report that three people were hitting a vehicle with a baseball bat and pouring gasoline on the vehicle. The three men fled north on Ashley Boulevard.

Based on witness statements and video surveillance, police were able to identify the suspect and place him under arrest later the same day.
