Armed Teen Leads New Bedford Police on Foot Chase

New Bedford Police arrest a man found carrying a loaded gun.

Detective Steve Vicente says Gang Unit officers spotted a man wanted on an outstanding warrant from the Department of Youth Services Thursday afternoon in the area of Bullard and North Front Streets. After a brief foot chase, police caught up with the man, identified as 19-year-old Davaun Oswald.

Police searched Oswald and found a loaded Kel-Tec P32 semi-automatic handgun, six rounds of ammunition, and four ounces of marijuana.

Police say the gun was reported stolen out of Florida earlier this year.

Oswald has been arraigned on multiple firearms and drug charges.
