Animal advocates are urging anyone who might have seen something suspicious on Route 24 last Sunday to come forward.

They say someone dropped a bag full of kittens on the highway. Four were killed, but one survived. The five week old kitten, named Freeway, was picked up by another motorist and is now living with a New Bedford woman.

Ruth Marshman of the group Care Southcoast, told the Herald News what happened to those kittens occurs more often than most people think..

She's urging anyone who may have seen something last Sunday around 8am on Route 24 to report it to authorities. She says if they did this once, they will do it again.
