‘American Idol’ Voting Is More Popular Than Elections That Matter

Primary Election Day News Flash: There are 51,996 registered voters in New Bedford, MA, a city of about 93,000 residents.
When all the votes were collected and counted in the 36 precincts, Thursday, here’s what I found:
Ballots Cast – 7, 786
Democratic Ballots Cast – 6,919 or 88.86%
Republican Ballots Cast – 858 or 11.02%
Green-Rainbow Ballots Cast – 9 or .12%
Total Election Day Voter Turnout – 14.97% … 14.97%!!!!!
Moral: As former President Bill Clinton might say – “It’s Arithmetic!” American Idol voting is more popular than electing our public servants. But, it just doesn’t add up, does it?
