Alves Search Could Cost New Bedford Thousands of Dollars
Last weekend’s extensive, 12 hour search for Chiropractor Gary Alves could cost between $100, 000 and $200,000 dollars.
New Bedford Police Sgt. Jill Simmons, the director of port security, says that the cost is related to the extensive search by the Coast Guard, and Environmental Police with an air & sea search.
Although Fairhaven Police say the Coast Guard is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, Sgt. Simmons adds no decision has been made whether to begin an official probe.
