Investigators have questioned the local chiropractor who was the subject of a 24-hour land and water search last weekend after finding items belonging to Gary Alves in a wooded area near Sconticut Neck near the entrance to the Causeway.

Fairhaven Police Sgt. Kevin Kobza says that Detective Pamela Bourgault and investigators from Coast Guard interviewed Alves tuesday afternoon at St. Luke's hospital about the items police found including a bicycle. Kobza added that Fairhaven Police are referring all inquires to the Coast Guard and that there is no criminal investigation by Fairhaven Police.

Kobza revealed that officers found an 18-inch, black, diamondback mountain bicycle chained to a utility pole and other personal items at the Sconticut Neck Road and Goulart Memorial Drive site that allegedly belonged to Alves.
