Alaska Might Be The Worst Place For Women to Live in the USA

A new report has found that Alaska is one of the worst places for women in the United States to live thanks to some surprising numbers and findings.

According to this article from Yahoo, women in Alaska earn much less than their male counterparts, are imprisoned more, and have a suicide rate that is twice the national average.

Senator Lesil McGuire finds it shocking, and calls some of the numbers disturbing. Sen. McGuire requested this study be done after finding in 2010 that 59% of women surveyed in Alaska had been victims of domestic abuse. The 2010 study also found that for every dollar a man is making, a woman on makes .67 cents. Also in 2011, they found that nearly 10% of high school girls had attempted suicide.
