NEW BEDFORD — As police officers approached a man known to have an arrest warrant on Sunday night, the suspect fled on foot from the area of 171 Coggeshall Street to the lot of the Market Basket store on Sawyer Street.

When he was caught, the man was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and cash. As police attempted to arrest him, he resisted arrest.

Isaac Rivera, 21, of 318 Smith Street New Bedford, was charged with resisting arrest, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, and on a warrant.

The arrest was made at 11:42 p.m. Sunday.
