Acushnet Woman Fatally Overdoses in New Bedford Convenience Store Bathroom

NEW BEDFORD - A 25-year-old Acushnet woman was found unresponsive in the bathroom of a New Bedford convenience store Monday, police said.

Police were called to Costa's Mini-Mart on Belleville Road before 3 p.m. Monday for a report of an unresponsive woman in the bathroom. She was pronounced dead of an apparent overdose at the scene.

Evidence of drug use was found near the body.

The medical examiner has taken custody of the body and is investigating the death.
