Acushnet Avenue Project Gets Funding Boost From State

Governor Deval Patrick delivers more than $1 million to New Bedford for the North End International Marketplace Project.

D-P-I Commissioner Ron Labelle says the money will be used to extend improvements north on Acushnet Avenue, improving neighborhoods along the way....

The state has already invested $3 million in the project, paying for new, wider sidewalks, planting trees, installing benches and better lighting and new traffic signals from Coggeshall to Sawyer Street. The City of New Bedford has also spent $3 million, putting in new water pipes.
