The animals rescued from a Westport farm are being transferred to animal rescue groups all along the East Coast.

Kelly Krause, a spokesperson for the ASPCA, announced on Tuesday that nearly 230 animals including rabbits, chickens, geese, equines and fish were surrendered to various rescue groups throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Maryland, Vermont and Maine.

The groups include Animal Welfare Society of Kennebunk, Maine; Catskill Animal Sanctuary of Saugerties, N.Y.; Chautauqua County Humane Society of Chautauqua, N.Y.; Humane Society of Chittenden County in South Burlington, Vt.; Connecticut Humane Society in Newington, Conn.; Days End Farm Horse Rescue in Woodbine, Md.; Forever Paws Animal Shelter in Fall River; House Rabbit Network in Woburn; MSPCA Cape Cod in Centerville; MSPCA in Boston; Potter League for Animals in Middletown, R.I.; SPCA Serving Erie County in Tonawanda, N.Y.; Sweet Binks Rabbit Rescue in Foster, R.I.; Tamerlaine Farm Animal Sanctuary in Montague Township, N.J. and the West Place Animal Sanctuary in South Tiverton, R.I.

Krause says the remaning animals are being cared for at an emergency shelter until their custody is determined.

The ASPCA has been assisting Westport Police since July 28 when over 1,000 farm animals were found living on a 70-acre property.

Krause says the ASPCA is continuing to provide assistance to state and local authorities regarding the criminal case and ongoing investigation.
