Well Known Leader Considering Mayoral Run

A well-known civic leader is considering a run for Mayor of New Bedford in 2011. Jim Mathes is the former long-time executive of the New Bedford Area Chamber of Commmerce. He currently heads the "Smiles" Mentoring organization. Mathes says he has no timetable for making a decision, but he says the position of Mayor is the one job that can make a significant difference in the present and future of New Bedford.
