Day Of Portugal Street Festival This Weekend In New Bedford

This weekend's Day of Portugal celebration kicked off Thursday night with a flag raising ceremony outside New Bedford City Hall.

One of the speakers was State Rep. Antonio Cabral. He leads a Day of Portugal ceremony each year at the State House in Boston.

Cabral tells WBSM News, the weekend is another example of New Bedford's cultural diversity....

Students at Portuguese Schools in New Bedford performed ethnic dances on William Street as part of the ceremony.

The Day of Portugal celebration shifts Friday night to Acushnet Avenue in the North End Business District where portuguese food, entertainment and crafts will be featured all weekend.
