Police ordered Jalice Cafe closed Saturday night after an early-morning shooting left 7 wounded outside the restaurant. The city also is looking into whether the bar is responsible for the incident.

"The City is taking swift, direct action with respect to the bar involved in the incident. The Police Department has ordered the establishment closed this evening, and the Licensing Board will hold a hearing on Wednesday evening to determine the role of the bar and whether sanctions are appropriate," said Mayor Jon Mitchell in a statement. "In the meantime, the Police Department has made this investigation its top priority, and is actively pursuing every lead to apprehend those responsible for the incident.”

Det. Sgt. Dean Fredericks told WBSM news Saturday morning that an event at Jalice drew a crowd large enough to spill into the street, and pushing in the crowd escalated into a shooting that left seven with non-life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred at about 1 a.m. and police found two victims when they arrived. Five more victims were later found to have been driven to St. Luke's Hospital by private vehicle.
The victims included four men and three women, all 20s except one, who is 19.
Police have not yet apprehended anyone in connection with the shooting.
