Police and officials of a Massachusetts day program for the disabled are investigating after two adults were left in a van for a few hours in the July heat in Kingston.

Mike Eddy, transportation director of the Habilitation Assistance Corp., said program officials are investigating how the two people could have been left in the van after they were driven from a nursing home to the day program's parking lot Friday morning.

Police and paramedics were called when the passengers were found. They were treated at a hospital and later released. Temperatures on Friday reached the low 90s with high humidity.

Eddy said the program has rules to prevent such things, but they apparently weren't followed. He said the driver has been suspended.

Kingston police said they are investigating.
