A week after thieves broke into the Saint Anthony of Padua Church on Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford, the community has come together to help make up for the loss of $500 in stolen meals intended for the needy this Thanksgiving and Christmas, including 20 turkeys.

The Portuguese Feast committee donated 30 complete turkey dinners, while others helped raise money online and to cover repairs needed from damage resulting from the break-in.

If you'd like to donate money or food, contact the church rectory at (508) 993-1691.
